Francis Matthew (Frank) Plizga, age 77 passed away on April 19, 2022. Born on October 15, 1944, he was the son of the late Miedy and Rose Donikowski Plizga of Erie.
Frank Attended St Hedwig Elementary School and Cathedral Prep, graduating in 1962.
He then attended Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, Pa. earning a degree in toolmaking and design. Upon graduation, he became an apprentice at Swanson Erie Corp., and worked there until ill health led to his retirement. He built automatic assembly machines, and trained customers in their operation and maintenance
throughout the U.S., Mexico, South America and Europe.
It was his pleasure to have worked with two generations of the Swanson family, Douglas and Sven. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sons Matthew Francis and Mark Stephen. His greatest sorrow was having to bury his children – he felt that was something that no parent should have to endure.
Frank is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan Grisier Plizga, his daughter Michele Wolny, her husband Marek, and their children Caitlyn (Brian) Catalfamo and Nicholas Wolny of Woonsocket, RI; his daughter-in-law Stacey Plizga and her son Matthew Francis of Erie, and his sister Judith Pentz of North East.
At Frank’s request, there will be no visitation and burial will be private. He wishes to say thanks to all his friends, and he’ll see them later!
