Obituary Matthew J. Czyzycki

LOWELL, MA- Dr. Mathew J. Czyzycki DDS, 96, died
peacefully on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Life Care Center of
the Merrimack Valley in Billerica, surrounded by his loving
family. He was the beloved husband of Dolores (Korsak)…
Czyzycki, with whom he shared 63 years of a loving marriage.
Born in New York Mills, NY, he was a son of the late Andrew
and Aniela (Warchol) Czyzycki. He attended Alliance College
in PA and later graduated from the University of Michigan,
School of Dentistry. He proudly served his country as a Captain in the United
States Army during WWII. He settled in Lowell, where he practiced dentistry for
50 years. He will be remembered fondly by many of his patients for his “drawings”
on their thumbnails, which eased the fear of dentistry for children.
An avid fisherman, he enjoyed annual ice fishing trips on the Miramichi in New
Brunswick. His love of fishing also prompted him to build a camp on Long Pond in
Dracut, where he spent many hours fishing with family and friends. He enjoyed
playing cards, especially penucle, 45’s, poker, and cribbage with occasional trips to
Foxwoods to increase his chip count.
He was an active member of the community, belonging to numerous clubs and
organizations, including The Elks, The Pulaski Club, Massachusetts Dental
Society, American Dental Association, the Holy Name Society at Holy Trinity
Polish Church, and the Lowell Fly Fishers Club. He took special pride in the fact
that he achieved the rank of 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and that
he was a founding member of the Polish American Veterans. To support his
community, he was a season ticketholder of the Lowell Spinners since their
inception, all of the local AHL Hockey Teams and the MRT.
In addition to his wife, he is survived and will be deeply missed by his children,
Andrea Morgan and her husband Donald of Chelmsford, Mathew of Dracut,
Patricia of Lowell, Amy Doherty and her husband Larry of Hampton, NH, and
Elizabeth Carnevale and her husband Dennis of Asheboro, NC. He is also survived
by his nieces, Sister Shawn Czyzycki and Joan Bowman of NY & a godson
Timothy McNeil of NH.
Grandpa will also sadly be missed by his loving grandchildren, Michael Welch,
Nicole Cluff, Bryan Welch, Taylor Welch, Pfc Damian Carnevale, Elyse Doherty, 3
great-granddaughters, Emma, Isabel and Violet Cluff, the “adopted” Ahern family,
Laura, Kara, Jeffrey, Kyle, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Thaddeus Czyzycki and his daughter, Dolores
The Czyzycki family would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to the
caring & compassionate caregivers of both the Life Care Center of the Merrimack
Valley and New England Hospice.
