Richard P. Mienkowski, 67, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Born in Wasosz, Poland on March 29, 1954, son of the late Wladyslaw and Regina (Truszkowski) Mienkowski-Czaja, he was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr.

At the age of twelve, Richard, along with his family, emigrated to America, first settling in Adams. He attended St. Stanislaus Kostka Elementary School and was a graduate of Hoosic Valley High School. Through those years Richard was a proud Boy Scout, attaining Eagle Scout status, and eventually becoming a Scoutmaster.

He continued his education at the Polish National Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, graduating with a major in International Business.

He also spent a year of college as an exchange student at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland.

After college, Richard relocated to Chicopee. He worked as a travel agent for thirty-five years at Syrena Travel Agency in Boston, a business he and his brother-in-law owned and operated.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Halina (Plotnicka) Mienkowski; loving son and daughter, Alex L. Mienkowski and Joanna K. Mienkowski, both of Chicopee; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Grace and John Poplawski and their sons, Christopher and Daniel; and several cousins.
