Sharon Rose Mika Griffith

Sharon Rose Mika Griffith, age 68, of Panna Maria, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023. She was born to Sixtus and Mary Mika on July 26, 1954.

RIP “Tex” – Sad to report the passing of Sharon Mika…

Throughout her life, Sharon was a wonderful mother, grandmother and auntie to anyone who walked through her door. She enjoyed being with her sisters, providing a helping hand to all in need, and providing hope to the hopeless. At a young age, Sharon was an active member in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria and later, St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City.

Sharon had the personality of a true whippersnapper sharing her hilarious, unexpected comments which had family and friends laughing and smiling from ear to ear. She loved yellow roses and bald eagles, as they represented Texas to her.

Sharon was a very proud Texan, no matter how far she traveled. While attending college at Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, PA, she was dubbed “TEX” by her northern friends. They loved her southern accent. Sharon received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Alliance College, and returned to Texas to pursue a career in the Oil and Gas Industry.

She married Dean Griffith and raised daughter, Jessica, later returning to Karnes City due to health complications.  She loved the Catholic faith attending Mass when she could as her numerous health challenges and handicaps prevented her from attending in person. She made sure to listen to Mass and tune in to the Rosary on EWTN daily.

Sharon was truly a loving woman of faith, the glue to the community of people around her. Sharon will be deeply missed by all who had the chance and privilege to know the beautiful soul she was. No matter what the circumstance, she always had a smile and a positive attitude towards life, brightening up the room and others’ spirits. She was a shining light in this world like no other.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Sixtus and Mary, and her beloved sister, Cynthia, who passed just two weeks to the day. Even in death, the two sisters seem inseparable. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Jessica Anne Griffith Michelet, granddaughter, Milanna Rose Griffith, son-in-law, Brandt Michelet; five sisters: Barbara Banduch (Larry), Annette Mika Bishop (Raymond), Linda Mika Newby (Billy Wayne), Deborah Mika, Laura Mika Jaramillo (Ryan), and three brothers: Allan Mika, Kenneth (Virginia) Mika and Jeffery Mika.
