Pi Lambda Phi (ΠΛΦ)

Founded: March 21, 1895, Yale University

Chapter Designation: PA Phi Delta

Founded: May 26, 1968

For more than two decades, Pi Lam provided Alliance College students with opportunities for leadership, service, and personal growth. The chapter’s impact extended beyond campus, helping shape the lives of its members. True to its motto, the bonds formed continue to unite alumni across the years.

At Alliance College, Pi Lambda Phi’s roots began in 1967 as the local fraternity Phi Delta Rho. On May 26, 1968, the organization became the Pennsylvania Phi Delta Chapter of Pi Lambda Phi, joining a national brotherhood whose members have included notable leaders in sports, media, business, law, and public service.

For more than two decades, the chapter played an active role in campus life, fostering lifelong friendships, supporting charitable causes such as the March of Dimes, and creating traditions remembered fondly by generations of Alliance students. Guided by the fraternity’s motto, “Not 4 Years but a Lifetime,” the bonds formed through Pi Lambda Phi continue to connect alumni long after their college years.

Annual Traditions & Celebrations

Pi Lambda Phi brothers shared many memorable traditions throughout the year.

Among the most anticipated traditions was the Edinboro Run and Dinner, a road trip that combined fellowship, adventure, and camaraderie for pledges and brothers.

The chapter also hosted lively Halloween Parties, bringing together members and friends for one of the year’s most popular social events.

The Holiday Dinner served as a special opportunity for brothers to gather and celebrate the season, reflecting on friendships and achievements while reinforcing the chapter’s sense of family.

Equally memorable were the annual Sweetheart Parties, which recognized the women who supported the fraternity and provided an occasion for members and guests to celebrate together.

These traditions strengthened friendships, celebrated brotherhood, and helped define the Pi Lam experience. Each has created cherished memories that have lasted long beyond graduation for many alumni.
